USA International Harp Competition - 2022

Required Repertoire

All repertoire must be performed from memory, with the exception of the 7th Composition Contest winning composition in Stage III.  

Stage I

  • André-François Marescotti: Mouvement

  • Choose one:

    • Elias Parish Alvars: Sérénade, Op. 83

    • Jean-Michel Damase: Sicilienne variée

  • Choose one:

    • Manuel de Falla: Spanish Dance No. 1 “La Vida Breve” (any edition) ­

    • Carlos Salzedo: Jeux d’eau

Stage II

  • Choose one: ­             

    • André Caplet: Deux Divertissements

    • Pierick Houdy: Sonata for Harp              

  • Sergiu Natra: Ode to the Harp (To obtain music, email a request to: publication@natra.xyz and reference the USA International Harp Competition)

  • Franz Liszt/H. Renié: Un Sospiro  

Stage III

  • A free-choice recital of 40 minutes to include:

    • the winning selection of the 7th USAIHC Ruth Inglefield Composition Contest (Ari Schwartz: self), published by Lyon & Healy Publications and available for purchase at https://www.harp.com/product/self-meditation-for-harpist/   

      AND       

    • one selection from the Baroque period (any length, any edition)  

Stage IV

  • Gabriel Pierné: Concertstück, Op. 39

  • Free choice encore solo to be played after the concerto (max. 8 minutes)   

  The 12th Competition is open to harpists of all nationalities between the ages of 18 and 32 as of May 15, 2022.
