Join us for a unique immersive experience with the Crimson Duo in an interwoven presentation of music and visual art.

“Stringscapes” is Crimson Duo’s most recent project, in which they collaborate with composers and visual artists from South Dakota to join images of nature with newly commissioned pieces. This experience in nature is the genesis for compositions by Libby Larsen (Minnesota), Jeffrey Paul (South Dakota), and Kirsten Soriano (Dallas-Fort Worth) on this program, along with the Crimson Duo’s recent commissions by Paul Patterson (London) and Patricio Da Silva (Los Angeles). The program also introduces a little-known work by the legendary harpist and composer Henriette Renié.

The Crimson Duo

Crimson Duo has performed internationally for ten years (Hong Kong, New York City, New Orleans, Atlanta, Colorado, throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area). This innovative duo has commissioned and premiered compositions by composers Paul Patterson, Gary Schocker, Patricio Da Silva, and Kirsten Soriano-Broberg.  They have recorded two compact discs; the second of these, Renderings, was released on the MSR label in 2019.  Jaymee and Matt are collaborating with Libby Larsen on a new work for harp and violin (…snowhaze, moonlight), made possible by a grant from the American Harp Society.  The duo recently launched their project, “Stringscapes,” in which they collaborate with photographers to present an immersive aural and visual experience.

Jaymee Haefner is Associate Professor of Harp and Director of Graduate Studies for the University of North Texas College of Music. Dr. Haefner serves on the board of the USA International Harp Competition.  She frequently writes for the Harp Column and published The Legend of Henriette Renié and One Stone to the Building.  She also serves on the boards of the World Harp Congress and the American Harp Society Foundation as well as the editorial board for the American Harp Journal.  She holds Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from the University of Arizona Fred Fox School of Music, and the Doctor of Music degree from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
