It is with sincere regret that we announce that Moya Wright is leaving her position as the executive director of the USA International Harp Competition, Inc. as of July 31, 2023, to pursue other opportunities.

Moya has held the position of executive director twice, from 2003-2005 and again from 2020–2023. During her time as executive director, she managed two highly successful competitions, as well as elevated the competition’s infrastructure through securing new grant funding, introduced video streaming concerts featuring our laureates, expanded the Harp Start educational program, initiated an Ambassador program for high school students, and greatly increased our social media presence.

Before joining the USA International Harp Competiton, Inc. Moya held positions as director of the Victor Salvi Foundation, and director of Music Publishing at Lyon & Healy Harps. She authored articles on the harp and harp music for The World Harp Congress Review, the American Harp Journal, and Harp Today, and edited Three Centuries of Harpmaking by Roslyn Rensch.

As a performing harpist, she held principal harp positions in the National Symphony Orchestra of South Africa, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and the Performing Arts Council of the Transvaal Orchestra (South Africa). She studied harp with Beti Woolley, Alice Chalifoux and Edna Phillips, and holds degrees from Cleveland State University and Temple University. She holds Performer’s Diplomas from the University of Cape Town, Trinity College (London) and the Royal Schools of Music. She performed in recitals in the USA, Europe, Africa and Asia, and has recorded on the Naxos, Clarity and Claremont labels.

The board of directors of the USA International Harp Competition, Inc. sincerely thank her for her dedicated service to us and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
