USAIHC appoints Moya Wright as Executive Director

The USAIHC Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Moya Wright as Executive Director. Moya previously served as the Executive Director of the 6th USA International Harp Competition (2004), and brings a wealth of experience as arts administrator, events coordinator, professional harpist, teacher, writer and editor to the position. “I am thrilled to return to the USAIHC to direct the organization of the 12th USA International Harp Competition, which will take place in 2022” says Moya.

“The USAIHC continues to be the foremost harp competition in the world, and is renowned for its high standards, as well as its role in launching the careers of their prize winners. I am looking forward to working with the Board of Directors, staff and volunteers, and our major sponsors, Lyon and Healy Harps and the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music to present a successful and memorable competition in 2022.” Joyce Claflin, CEO of the USAIHC, says “Moya is uniquely qualified for the position, with an impressive record of accomplishments as an arts administrator and professional harpist, and we welcome her as we move forward in planning the 2022 12th Competition.”

Moya has previously held positions as Director of the Victor Salvi Foundation, and Director of Music Publishing at Lyon & Healy Harps. She has authored articles on the harp and harp music for the World Harp Congress Review, the American Harp Journal, and Harp Today, and edited Three Centuries of Harpmaking (author Roslyn Rensch). Moya has held Principal Harp positions in the National Symphony Orchestra of South Africa, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and the Performing Arts Council of the Transvaal Orchestra (South Africa). She studied with Beti Woolley, Alice Chalifoux and Edna Phillips, and holds degrees from Cleveland State University and Temple University, and Performer’s Diplomas from the University of Cape Town, Trinity College (London) and the Royal Schools of Music. She has performed in recital in the USA, Europe, Africa and Asia, and has recorded on the Naxos, Clarity and Claremont labels.
