Inspiration & Reimagination: Considering the Art of Rudy Pozzatti

This concert draws inspiration from “The Gift of Collecting: Spotlight and Rudy Pozzatti” exhibit from University Collections at McCalla. The featured music was composed during Pozzatti’s lifetime, including works by Bernard Andrès, Carlos Carrillo, Ian Clarke, Anne LeBaron, Witold Lutoslawski, Shafer Mahoney, Susann McDonald, Paul Patterson, Kim Robertson, Roberto Sierra, and Linda Wood Rollo.

As the Aletheia Duo, Jonathan Keeble and Ann Yeung share a passion for bringing the creative possibilities of the music of today to their audiences. Uniquely poised as artist-citizens for the 21st century, they are award-winning Professors of Music and Area Chairs at the University at Illinois Urbana-Champaign with internationally distinguished studios and Past Presidents of their respective national professional organizations. Their evocative performances have been described as having “lyricism, and above all, magic” (Flutist Quarterly) and “a spectacular pairing” (Harp Column). Individually recognized as two of the leading performers and pedagogues of their generation with a commitment to advocating for the next generation of creative artists, they have performed throughout the world together since 2002.

Jonathan Keeble is known for his rich tone, effervescent personality, and nuanced musicality. In demand as performing artist and master class clinician, he has been described as having an “infinitely flexible sound, with many subtle colors,” and is among the leading performers of his generation. Jonathan is the flutist for the award-winning Prairie Winds, and Principal Flute of the Sinfonia da Camera. He spends his summers at Aria International and the Pacific Northwest Flute and Piccolo Seminar, in addition to touring the world. Jonathan received his degrees from the Eastman School of Music and Northwestern University, studying respectively with Bonita Boyd and Walfrid Kujala. Jonathan plays a Nagahara Full Concert flute with 14-karat headjoint and platinum extended riser.

Known for her bold artistry and diverse repertoire, Ann Yeung is recognized as one of the leading harpists and teachers of her generation. She enjoys an international multi-faceted creative career as an international and national prize-winning harpist, adjudicator, editor, clinician, researcher, and author. Dedicated to the expansion of the repertoire, she has premiered numerous compositions as a performer and conductor. She is Principal Harp of the Sinfonia da Camera. Recognized for her exceptional ability to foster individual creativity and artistry in her students, she is the Founder and Director of the annual Illinois Summer Harp Class (ISHC). She received her Doctor of Music and Artist Diploma from Indiana University, studying under Susann McDonald.
