Founded in 1989 by world renowned harpist and teacher Susann McDonald, the USA International Harp Competition is held every three years. The Competition is hosted by the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and is open to harpists of all nationalities between the ages of 16 and 32. Since the Competition began over 300 harpists from 19 countries have come to Bloomington, Indiana to compete for the coveted Gold Medal. In addition to awarding outstanding prizes such as a Commemorative Lyon & Healy Gold Concert Grand Harp designed especially for the USA International Harp Competition, the Competition has an impressive record of helping launch young careers.
