5th Solo Harp Composition Contest Winner Announced!

The winning composition is Sublimation by Jeremiah Siochi of Arlington, Virginia (USA).

With 114 score submitted by composers from 34 different countries, this was the largest Contest to date.

Harp Dreams wins 3 regional Emmys as well as the prestigious CINE Golden Eagle Award 

Harp Dreams, the WTIU-produced documentary of the 2007 competition, showcases the best young harpists in the world as they prepare for a high-stakes ten-day event held every three years at the Jacobs School of Music on the Bloomington campus of Indiana University.  The documentary is a celebration of contestants from around the world and, ultimately, the competition itself.

USA International Harp Competition 2013 Required Repertoire


All works must be performed by memory, with the exception of the 2012 Composition Contest winning work performed in Stage 3.

The order of works to be performed in each stage may be determined by the contestant.



  • Domenico Scarlatti: Sonata K113 or K209 (no repeats)
  • Gabriel Fauré: Impromptu for Harp, Op.86
  • Ami Ma’ayani: Maqamat



  • Choice of one:
    • Alfredo Casella: Sonata for Harp
    • Nicholas Flagello: Sonata for Harp
  • Gioacchino Rossini - Bochsa-Moretti: Rondo on Zitti Zitti

  • Choice of one:
    • Mikhail Glinka-Balakirev: The Lark, ed. Agazarian (Harp Masters) or Erdeli (Salvi Publications)
    • Franz Liszt: The Nightingale, ed. Renié



  • A free choice recital program of 40 minutes to include:
    • Benjamin Attahir: De l’obscurité II
    • Henriette Renié: Danse des Lutins



  • Carl Reinecke: Concerto in E Minor for Harp & Orchestra, Op. 182
