Rising Classical Music Stars to Make Midwest Debut

November 8, 9, and 12, 2011 rising classical music stars Agnès Clément, 2010 USA International Harp Competition (USAIHC) gold medallist from France and Andrey Baranov, 2010 laureate of the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis (IVCI) from Russia will perform a joint debut concert. This concert is part of a three city tour with performances in Indianapolis, Bloomington and Chicago. This unique tour is the inaugural partnership project for the two internationally recognized organizations - USAIHC and IVCI.

During the ten day 2010 8th Competition, Agnès Clément played 17 pieces resulting in being declared gold medallist. Ms. Clément has studied harp with Fabrice Pierre, Park Stikney and Sylvain Blassel and bassoon with Jean Pignoly in Lyon, France. She has won national and international prizes for both harp and bassoon. The debut tour celebrates Ms. Clément's accomplishments at the USAIHC and promotes her career in the United States. Lyon & Healy, harp makers since 1889, facilitates world-wide promotion of the 2010 first place winner.

Ms. Clément will perform with Andrey Baranov, laureate of the 2010 International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. Mr. Baranov attended the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory, St. Petersburg Conservatory and Conservatoire de Lausanne.   He has received recognition through numerous international competitions and concert appearances. Currently, Mr. Baranov serves as teaching assistant to Pierre Amoyal at Conservatoire de Lausanne.

USAIHC and IVCI share many common goals including promotion and fostering of gifted young artists' careers by showcasing the artists and harp and violin repertoires, respectively, to a large and diverse audience.   The debut tour aligns the overlapping goals and offers world-class music performances. Ms. Clément and Mr. Baranov will each perform solo works then perform as a duet. Artistically, this will give two young artists the opportunity to meet and work collaboratively while offering the audience the opportunity of a rare duet concert featuring future classical music stars.

Prior to the November 9, 2011 Bloomington debut concert, USAIHC will sponsor a special version of its educational outreach program, Harp Start. It will be presented in Bloomington area schools, community centers and public activities to prepare students and community members for this special performance. The Bloomington concert will be at the Buskirk Chumley Theater. It will be Ms. Clément's first return to Bloomington since her gold medal performance in July 2010.

Tickets for the November 9th performance are available at the Buskirk Chumley Theater’s box office or website:
