Educational Outreach

The USAIHC Education Outreach programs have been developed for the entire local community providing the opportunity to understand educational concepts in another context. The USAIHC programs promote diversity, communication and even physical activity. By offering our programs free of charge to schools and other community organizations the USAIHC brings an unusual experience. Learning about harps, the different cultures that play them, and potentially playing such an uncommon instrument can expand a child’s horizons. The USAIHC’s goal is to provide as many students as possible with the knowledge and skills that will benefit their future, and if we give a future competitor their start, so much the better.

Harp Start - Each interactive concert lasts about forty-five-minutes and features a program facilitator and guest harpist. Following each presentation, students may ask questions to learn more about the harp and harpist. A concert grand harp will be brought into the school for the program.  Handouts and illustrations will be distributed to further enhance the audiences' experiences. This program will enable audience members to learn about the history, intricacies and capabilities of the harp.

Engage a Harpist - This program allows individuals and organizations to book a harpist for their private events.  Most bookings will be filled with harpists who participated in the recent competition or harpists who are preparing for the upcoming competition.  The mission of the USAIHC is fulfilled in two ways through this program.  Harpists gain valuable public performance experience, while promoting the harp to a broader audience.
